The Train of Chance [abstract]
It is a multidisciplinary account of movement in the context of the European refugee crisis, based on first-hand storytelling set on the border of France and the UK, and with flashbacks to the Sahara. As a passageway, the desert comes to stand as a redemptive metaphor for the initiations, journeys and trials associated with crossing borders and the agency of refugees in taking flight. Throughout the text, idiosyncrasies of format and spelling are intentional reflections of time, place, and voice.
